Director of Learning & Development
I started out in the restaurant business when I was 16, briefly working as a fry cook at a little burger place before moving on to work with my father installing factory equipment for a few years. At 19 I was hired as a cook at KFC, never suspecting that it would be the start of a career in the restaurant business. I worked hard, and one day our area coach asked why someone with my personality was kept in the kitchen. As a result I was transferred to a cashier position, and a month later I was promoted to a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the restaurant and running shifts in the absence of the GM or assistant manager. After a couple of years the area coach asked whether I might be interested in the manager training program. Since I had not yet decided whether I wanted to go to college or even what I wanted to do with my life, I decided I would give the program a try. At the age of 21 I was given my first store in Paris, Texas, becoming the youngest manager in the company and the first to manage a store at that age. Over the next 10 years I increased weekly sales from $5,000 to almost $19,000.
That performance earned me a promotion to area coach, responsible for 12 stores. After 16 years with KFC, I decided to take a step back and became the general manager of the Pizza Inn in Sulphur Springs, Texas. This was where I got my first taste of the pizza business, and right away I loved it. Not long afterward, I heard that Little Caesars was about to open in town, and I wanted to be a part of that company. That’s how I became Vibe Restaurant Group’s sixth general manager. I enjoyed the job and loved the people, and as we grew I was promoted to area supervisor.
Vibe kept growing, and I kept moving up. In 2016 I became the regional director for Texas, Louisiana, and southern Arkansas. Today I am the Director of Training, as excited as ever about taking this company to the next level.
I am married to my wonderful wife Jessica, and we have three kids. In my free time (when I’m not building stuff for my wife), I like to spend personal time with my family. I am a huge movie buff–Star Wars in particular–and I also go to comic cons and participate in cosplay; I love to dress up as Batman and other superheroes and Star Wars characters at the conventions. (Sometimes I even wear costumes when I teach my training classes.) Basically I just love having fun. My kids keep me busy when I’m not working, and we love to spend time at the beach as a family and just be together away from it all.
